Belgien har lite att jobba på när det gäller trafiksäkerhet…
No seatbelt? That’ll be €100
Melchior Wathelet, state secretary for mobility, has announced a package of new measures and sanctions aimed at improving road safety in Belgium. His goal is to reduce the annual death toll on the roads from 750 to 420 by 2020. The most significant of these measures, which become effective in January, include:
•The alcohol limit being lowered to 0.2 ‰ for lorry, coach, bus and taxi drivers
•A fine of €100 (increased from €50) for not wearing a seatbelt, and €150 for a child under the age of 12 (instead of €50)
•The possibility for the authorities to deduct fines from annual tax reimbursements, to avoid non-payment
